CRG - Competitive Research Grant program. 2016 Call for Proposals now open | Deadline: May 21st, 2016


‚ÄčKAUST Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) is pleased to announce the 2016 competition for its internal competitive research funding program, the Competitive Research Grant (CRG) program.

The CRG program, funded by the University Research Fund (URF) and managed by the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR),is KAUST's internal competitive research funding program for novel, curiosity-driven scientific research of the highest quality. Research funded under the CRG program is expected to lead to advances, if not transformations, in the frontiers of knowledge. Proposals crossing boundaries between different disciplines and fields are strongly encouraged.

Additionally, a key objective of KAUST-funded internal competitive research programs is to catalyze a world-class collaborative ecosystem both in the Kingdom and worldwide. Hence, the inclusion of leading external academic and industrial collaborators, providing key expertise and significant leveraging of resources to the project, is encouraged.  In addition, the inclusion of initiatives and goals in proposals for recruiting graduate students and enhancing the participation of women is highly encouraged. 

Full and exploratory proposals  will be considered in this competition round.

Key Call Dates¬∑     
  • Letter of Intent (LoI) submission to Research Services (RS) by 5:00pm KSA Time March 30th, 2016
  • Town hall meeting: March 22nd, 2016 - Auditorium between Bldgs. 4 & 5.  1:30 pm to 2:30 pm   
  • Online Proposal Submission to RS by 5:00 p.m. KSA time May 21st, 2016      
  • Anticipated Funding Decision Notification Date: November 2016         
  • Award Start Date: April 1st, 2017
